I have been blogging for about five years now. There are many times I wished I could blog more often. I have experienced some of the challenges you might be experiencing while trying to blog, like running out of ideas to write about, struggling to come up with great headlines, and failing to find the perfect images to accompany my blog posts. Whether you blog for business or pleasure, any tool that makes your work easier should be welcomed. There are hundreds of tools online that can make your blogging less stressful. I’ll only highlight the following 5 that have worked for me:
This online notebook lives up to its promise of helping you remember everything. It is available online, as a desktop app (for Windows and iOS), and as a mobile app (for both iOS and Android). This means that you can use it to take notes from anywhere, and your notes will be seamlessly synced across all your devices. Evernote is a great tool for writing down blogging ideas wherever they strike you, whether in the bathroom, on a bus, or at your desk. Check it out.
This is Google’s version of a word processor. But unlike the popular Microsoft Office Word, it is more minimalistic, which reduces distractions as you write. It is also easier to collaborate with other contributors as it can be easily shared and shows the changes made in real time. Google Docs automatically saves your work as you write to your Google Drive, so you don’t have to worry about losing it through some freak accident. Check it out.
Have you ever been reading through one of your published blogs only to notice a small, embarrassing typo that you could have easily caught before publishing? Grammarly helps you catch all grammatical errors as you write by highlighting them. This will prevent those embarrassments. It is available as a Chrome and Firefox plugin, as a Microsoft Office Addon, and as a desktop app. I actually used Grammarly to edit this post. Check it out.
One of the ways of standing out as a blogger is having compelling images that catch your readers’ attention. Google Search Images or clip art can’t do that for you. Some of the images in Google Search Images actually have copyrights on them. Canva is a great online tool for creating custom images, especially if you are not good at graphic design. All you need to do is drag and drop your images into Canva’s templates, use the editing tools in it and also choose from their vast array of beautiful fonts. Check it out.
Search Engine Optimization is probably the most important element of blogging. Without properly optimizing your content for search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo), you will get lost in the World Wide Web. Installing a plugin like Yoast SEO in your blog can help make sure that all your pages are properly optimized. Check it out.
